Thank you for interest in Edina Photography.
I photographed my first wedding in 1982. I enjoy photographing weddings; however, while still in high school, I had the opportunity to work in the precision machining industry. I have been in this industry ever since. I stay current with wedding photography, attending the WPPI conference in Las Vegas and the Hart of America Conventions. The H of A convention is the PPI's Midwest show. I have family in Kansas City, so this is an opportunity to visit them and attend the convention. I am a member of TCPPA Twin Cities Professional Photographers Association. I Attended seminars hosted by Lindsey Adler, Sandy Puc, Ed Pierce, and others.
In the early two-thousands, I was approached by couples fresh out of college or planning their second Marriage. At this point, I set up an LLC and purchased a 2-million-dollar insurance policy. The early weddings may have been simple, but they were not small affairs. If you look at my gallery page, you will see a few images of a wedding with a bridal party of 22 people.
The wedding photography as a side business was going very well, but a family member was struck with health issues. I spent much of my time doing my part to help take care of this family member. I also took a significant role in helping with their children. I found myself in much the same position as a single parent with two teenage kids. Needless to say, I had to put the photography on ice. Thankfully, the family members' health is improving, and as the kids get older, they are becoming more independent. I certainly do not have the time to reboot my photography business: marketing, meeting potential clients, doing the wedding fair circuit, etcetera. However, I now have time to photograph and edit weddings and video weddings.
Location:
I have fuel-efficient automobiles, so I am more than willing to travel outside the Minneapolis area. I have been to Chicago, Two Harbors Upper Peninsula of MI, La Cross, and northern IA.
Insurance:
I do carry liability insurance and can have a certificate sent to the venue.
